ADHD is a neurological disorder that impacts all aspects of life.
After years of working with patients and their families impacted by ADHD, I’ve heard common frustrations that trigger them to seek out my services.
Some common frustrations about other therapeutic approaches:
- Other therapists got my anxiety/depression, but didn’t understand ADHD
- We didn’t come up with strategies
- I couldn’t figure out how to apply it outside of session
- Some sessions i felt like we had stuff to talk about but a lot of times I didn’t know what to say
- It was boring
- Medication helps but it’s not enough
I utilize current, evidenced based treatments including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and executive functioning skills training to address these challenges and improve quality of life.
Through a structured approach, we identify what changes you’d like to make, and create a plan to achieving them.
ADHD Treatment for Teens and Their Families
Navigating the teen years is challenging enough, let alone when your teen has ADHD.
We work on developing skills to get homework done, figure out future goals, manage impulsivity, and succeed in social situations.
I invite collaboration with school personnel, parents, and any other supports throughout the therapeutic process.
ADHD Treatment for Adults
We used to think ADHD was a childhood disorder that patients would outgrow.
We now know that as many as 60% of adults with history of ADHD diagnosis meet clinical criteria into adulthood.
Many more may not meet full criteria, but still have several symptoms.
Treatment for Couples Impacted by ADHD
Did you know that those with ADHD are more likely to experience divorce than others?
ADHD can impact many aspects of the relationship including communication, financial management, co-parenting, and intimacy.
Couples have come to me after frustrations with previous treatment, including:
- My partner has no idea what I’m going through
- They didn’t understand my ADHD
- I felt blamed
- I forgot to do the homework and then my partner would get more frustrated with me
- It didn’t help us manage the day to day stuff
